After calling several accelerated flight programs throughout the country I finally talked to AFIT. I trained for my commercial and CFI with AFIT. That two-year program looked more and more like a three or four-year program just to get the flying done. Great concept. Flying with Andy was a great experience and most importantly at the end I successfully completed my test and received my private pilot certificate. I had been slowly marching towards my PPL for almost 2 years and never was able to make that final push due to instructor availability, weather, aeroplane availability, and my own schedule. With no experience flying a Cessna 172 and just a few hours of introductory flight lessons over the past 20 years, I was stunned how quickly my instructor, Ruben, was able to transform me from lifelong aviation enthusiast to pilot. In an accelerated course like this, the days feel like weeks but the weeks fly by in what feels like minutes. From the outset with instructors to the conclusion they all worked diligently to get me to the finish line. AFIT was a great program for earning my pilots license quickly. John instilled the skills and technique that I needed to accomplish any landings, at any given wind angle and speed. I think you have a great operation that I would highly recommend to anyone. During my search for the right accelerated school, I contacted dozens of schools throughout the U.S. (including AFIT). I spent 10 days flying with Andy, completing my training. John is an excellent instructor, very patient and always ready with tips to ace all PPL maneuvers. Yep, it was heavy a total immersion in flying but success only comes after hard work! In six days, Adriel had me transitioned over to the six-pack from my G1000 familiarity, re-soloed, pinned-down some landing challenges I had, and had me prepared to pass my check ride. I cant say enough about how well Alex cares fortheplane and keeps it in top shape. We had just done a lot of time doing cross wind landings. I had contacted Tony a year prior but due to schedules decided to start training at my home airport in Denver. The complicated airspace and literally dozens of airports allowed me to work on my ATCcommunications skills and overall situational awareness along with the fundamental skills needed to complete my training. The 14 Day Private Pilot course provided me exactly what I needed to get my private pilot license. Successfully completing my check ride and getting my Private Pilots license in less than two weeks from first beginning learning was an amazing feeling. Alexs background in airplane mechanics makes him a huge asset to the program too. Apart from passing my check ride, I also appreciated the emphasis on inculcating good safety habits, and being systematic about getting and staying ahead of the airplane. I learned a lot in such a short amount of time, and I would have never imagined that I would be able to do my first solo after one week and my first cross-country solo shortly after. After going over flight maneuvers, Pattern work and the Private Pilots knowledge (Ground School), I was given a Pre-solo test and by day three I did my Solo. Well, it looked like it was going to take at least several hundred more hours to get my PPL with Riddle anyway, so off I went to AFIT (with no regrets or reservations) and a week later I had my Private Pilots License! Hes very professional, has a wealth of experience as a pilot and teacher and is able to relay the concepts and the actual act of flying an airplane masterfully in the short amount of time given in this program. With Ruben, I got an exceptionally experienced CFII who would fly 6+ hours a day if I needed it. Accelerated Flight Training. Todd (my CFI) was amazing in my corner every step of the way; truly a world class instructor, coach and mentor. He needed to do this as it is an accelerated time frame, this never came with jeopardizing safety or control. A.F.I.T. And I knew I had to kick myself to start and FINISH my private pillow license to start on achieving my dream to fly for the big boys one day. I look forward to becoming a better pilot and visiting AFIT again to earn my instrument rating one day soon. About a week before my trip to Van Nuys I was put in contact with the CFI, Fady, who I would be working with for the duration of the course. A Private Pilots License requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight time, as well as extra time for study on the ground in preparation for the FAA written test. The days will be LONG and the last thing you will want to do is go back to your lodging and read. Where to begin?
